The gastric peristalsis of a group of persons with active peptic ulcer was observed during a control period, and changes accompanying the threat of an injection were noted.
Comparison of this group with a previous sample of normal subjects examined in the same way shows:
About a fourth of the ulcer cases showed periods of interruption of peristalsis during the control period which were not seen in the normal group.
The proportions of people in the two groups whose gastric peristalsis showed changes accompanying the threat of an injection were not significantly different.
