The Current Status of Prognostic Test Indicators for Electroconvulsive Therapy

During the past few years a number of tests have been introduced which are claimed to be effective in selecting patients who will respond to electroconvulsive therapy. These tests are reviewed from the point of view of their reliabilities and validities. No simple test appears to satisfy these requirements and their clinical value therefore appears to be doubtful.
