This report deals with some recent investigations on alcohol dehydrogenases (ADH) from human, rhesus monkey, and horse liver. ADH occurs in multiple molecular forms. These isoenzymes differ in their kinetic, electrophoretic, and chromatographic properties. Their distribution varies from organ to organ (liver, kidney, gastrointestinal tract, bladder, lung). Some humans have been found to be carriers of an atypical ADH.
