Studies on urine of 20 overt homosexual males, aged 19 to 31, showed variable levels of 17-ketosteroid (androgen?) and pituitary gonadotrophin. Half the men had no demonstrable gonadotrophic hormone in a 12-hour urine equivalent, less than any normals studied by the same technique. This was not correlated with any typical physical features or with the level of 17-ketosteroids. These findings suggest that there may be an endocrinological abnormality in some cases of homosexuality.
